500 million VND in support of life's water in Tien Giang province

Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) has just decided to support five provinces in the Central Highland and eight province in Mekong delta influenced heavily by recent drought. Provinces in Mekong Delta are Tien Giang, Vinh Long, Tra Vinh, Ben Tre, Kien Giang, Long An, Soc Trang, Ca Mau. Each province will be supported 500 million VND to meet the need of life’s water.

After surveying the situation in drought and salinity in the Mekong Delta and the Central Highland provinces, Minister of MONRE Tran Hong Ha has directed the the National Hydro-Meteorological Service to focus closely on monitoring development, forecasting hydrometeorology and providing promptly warning bulletins drought, saltwater intrusion to agencies, departments and people to have proactive plan for production and daily life, increasing measurement of salinity points in the Mekong Delta provinces.

To provide information and distribution maps of underground fresh water and technical equipment assistance, founding a working group of technical assistance for local authorities in searching for water sources to serve against drought and salinity intrusion in Mekong Delta and the Central Highland.
