The move followed a report conducted by the Regional Co-operation Agreement on Combating Piracy and Armed Robbery against Ships in Asia (ReCAAP) on crew abductions from tug boats in waters off East Sabah of Malaysia and southern Philippines.
From late March to late April, there were three abduction incidents involving crew in this region, the newspaper cited the report.
The Malaysian Government temporarily banned the international trade route between East Sabah and south Philippines.
Malaysian and Philippine authorities will discuss measures to stop similar incidents.
