Numerous activities to pay tribute to war heroes and martyrs
On the occasion of the 69th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27), various activities have taken place across the country to pay tribute to fallen and wounded soldiers, their families and war-time volunteers for their fight for national independence and freedom.
The Hanoian Newspaper co-ordinated with the War Veterans Association of National Assembly Office, Hanoi Radio Television to organise an arts exchange programme ’Marching songs forever’ in Hanoi on July 24. The programme aimed to honour and pay tribute to fallen and wounded soldiers, their families and war-time volunteers. At the event, 100 gifts and 30 savings books were presented to disadvantaged families of wounded and fallen soldiers in Cao Bang and Thai Nguyen.
On the same day, the Labour Newspaper and Quang Binh provincial People’s Committee held an art programme on General Vo Nguyen Giap on the occasion of his 105th birthday. The programme screened a documentary film on the life and career of the General Giap. The organising board presented 5,000 portrait photos on General Vo Nguyen Giap and 5,000 publications on General published by the Labour Newspaper to the General’s family, leaders of Quang Binh province and war veterans.
On July 24, incense offering ceremonies were also organised by Ha Giang and Kon Tum provinces to commemorate and pay tribute to fallen soldiers and contributors. Numerous charity events were held to express gratitude to relatives and the families of fallen and wounded soldiers and war-time volunteers who sacrificed their youth and lives for the national fight for independence and freedom.
On the occasion, the Youth Union of Ha Tinh province also presented 1,624 gifts to war-time volunteers, relatives of fallen and wounded soldiers and disadvantaged policy beneficiary families.
In An Lao district of Hai Phong city the State recognition title of Vietnamese Heroic Mother was presented to 14 women in the district for their great contributions and sacrifices to the cause of national liberation, construction and defence.
Meanwhile, Hai Phong city Martyrs' Family Support Association also presented 13 passbooks to Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and 19 gifts to policy beneficiary families.
