He made the request while attending a meeting on September 24 to review cooperation between the two agencies.
The front leader said that the youth union was a valuable political asset of the country, so therefore it must always take the lead in encouraging young people to participate in national construction and defence.
He also asked the union to pay more attention to helping young people start up business so that the number of young enterprises could soon reach a total of 3.6 million.
In the first eight months of the year, the two organisations have collaborated on a wide range of social movements such as those related to building new rural areas and civilised urban areas, and the movement to encourage Vietnamese people to use local products, among others.
