Dong Thap Muoi Ecological Reserve proposed to expand

On the afternoon of December 5, Tien Giang province People's Committee has just worked with the Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development about the proposal of extension Dong Thap Muoi Ecological Reserve.

Dong Thap Muoi Ecological Reserve was established in 2000 with a total existence area of 107 ha. According to the proposed expansion, there is two phases. The first phase has an area of 120 hectares with a capital of over 143 billion VND, the seconde phase has an area of 124 hectares with a capital of 132 billion VND.

On this basis, the work has received many comments of the representatives of the management, route schedule, investment and coordination of concerned sectors in the implementation of expansion Dong Thap Muoi Ecological Reserve.

At the meeting, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Le Van Huong proposed the Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development should urgently conduct a complete project documents proposed to expand Dong Thap Muoi Ecological Reserve in the first phase, coordinating closely with relevant sectors to discuss solutions create a tourism product in the expansion of this ecological reseve in a long term, taking advantage of funding support from central government besides capital investment of the province to promote the expansion of ecological characteristics of Dong Thap Muoi Ecological Reserve.
