On the afternoon of December 15, Chairman of the Tien Giang provincial People's Committee (PPC) chaired the working session with the My Tho city People's Committee and contractors of many slow progress constructions in the city.

Accordingly, the constructions under the urban upgrading the Mekong Delta project in My Tho city are slowing down the construction progress, causing urgent for people. The infrastructure upgrading for the Ward 6 constructed by Hong Lam Construction Joint Stock Company will be completed on December 31, 2017, however the progress up to now is 74.42% quantity.

The construction of the infrastructure of the resettlement area of the Kenh Xang channel and the drainage system of the quarter 5 and 6 of Ward 3 are expected to complete by September of 2017 but until now, the work volume have just completed only 50%.  The construction of Tien river embankment under Ward 2 will be completed by December 31, 2017, which is completed by the joint venture of three construction companies, however, the progress until now is only 52.22% .

Particularly, the project for renovating and upgrading Tran Ngoc Giai street, Ward 6 and Hoang Viet street, Ward 5, is causing troubles for people. The plan will be completed on December 30, 2017, however the progress is now only 37.03%.

According to My Tho city People's Committee, the progress of these projects is slow because of difficulties in site clearance and adjustment of design of water supply and drainage items. In addition, the contractor's strength is unstable; the equipment is inadequate and the contractor is excuted the work half-heartdedly. In recent years, My Tho city People's Committee has implemented many solutions to solve the above situation, however, many construction progress until now is still very slow, affecting the life of people.

The Chairman of the PPC Le Van Huong requested to clarify the cause of the delay and clearly define the responsibility of the project management board and the contractor construction. At the same time, it is necessary to have solutions such as night work, to complete the progress of works, to create favorable conditions for living and the life of people.

After the working session, the Chairman of the PPC, leaders of the My Tho City People's Committee visited the construction works in slow progress, including the work of upgrading Tran Ngoc Gia street, Ward 6, Hoang Viet street, Ward 5.
