Activities mark 71st anniversary of Wounded and Fallen Soldiers' Day
ABO/NDO - A wide range of activities have been held across the country to mark the 71st anniversary of Wounded and Fallen Soldiers’ Day (July 27).

Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Head of the Commission for Organisation, Pham Minh Chinh, visited Truong Son National Cemetery and Road 9 National Martyr Cemetery on July 20. Offering incense and flowers at the cemetery, Politburo member Chinh expressed his respect and deep gratitude to the fallen soldiers who laid down their lives for national liberation. The same day, Politburo member Chinh visited Vietnamese heroic mother, Phung Thi Tinh, and presented 20 gifts worth VND500,000 each to policies beneficiaries in Dong Ha city. On the occasion, he also presented 80 gifts to policy beneficiaries in Quang Tri province.
The noble sacrifices of the Vietnamese wars heroes and martyrs, who shed blood for national freedom and independence, are being honoured at an exhibition which opened at Hoa Lo Prison Museum in downtown Hanoi on July 20.It is divided into sub-sections, displaying precious photos, historical documents and replicas of prisons, which have been of significance during different phases of the country, along with presenting the lifelong struggle for freedom of many revolutionary soldiers.
The People’s Committee of the central province of Phu Yen has allocated over VND7.5 billion to present over 18,000 gifts to policy beneficiaries in the province.
An arts programme themed ‘Red Flowers’ was held in Hanoi on July 20 to mark the 71st anniversary of Wounded and Fallen Soldiers’ Day.The event, hosted by the Communist Party of Vietnam Online Newspaper featured songs and dances praising their love for the motherland, as well as the exploits of the Vietnamese soldiers who sacrificed their lives for national independence.
A ceremony to commemorate and rebury the remains of Vietnamese soldiers who died during wartime took place in the Mekong Delta provinces of Dong Thapon July 20. Following a solemn requiem, 85 remains of Vietnamese voluntary soldiers and experts, who died in Cambodia, were reburied at the Tam Nong district martyr cemetery. Since 2001, search team K91 under the Dong Thap military command has carried out 17 searches, unearthing 1,713 sets of remains of Vietnamese voluntary soldiers and experts.
