The Provincial People's Council monitors the implementation of the resolution on tourism development

ABO - On September 25, the Tien Giang provincial People's Council of Tien Giang province, led by Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Thi Sang, worked with the Provincial People's Committee on the implementation of Resolution No.54 by the Provincial People's Council on "Planning for tourism development in the Tien Giang province until 2020 and vision to 2030". To implement the Resolution No.54, the Provincial Party Committee issued the Resolution 11 and the Provincial People's Committee issued the Resolution No.2369 to direct departments, sectors and localities focus on implementation of solutions to develop tourism, creating the motive power for the tourism industry in the Tien Giang province’s development.

Particularly, the economic sectors involved in the tourism field have increased, especially the private sector invested in the construction of accommodation, restaurants, tourist areas and destinations. Resorts and tourist sites were renovated and further built, concentrating on exploiting the advantages of ecological tourism and cultural and historical tourism in order to attract international tourists.

Promotional activities have been enhanced with the introduction of featured products. Human resources in tourism increased in quantity and improved quality, gradually standardized according to regulations. As a result, the total number of visitors to the Tien Giang province in 2017 was 1,850,000, reaching 84% of the resolution and the total revenue of VND786 billion, up 73%.

However, through the assessment of the supervision delegations, tourism activities of the Tien Giang province still needed to focus on raising some content in the spirit of the Resolution No.54 such as: To focus on investment projects breakthrough; To continue building up preferential mechanisms and policies to attract investment; to mobilize capital sources for investment in infrastructure; to strengthen security and safety in tourism.

On behalf of the Provincial People's Committee, Deputy Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Thanh Duc noted comments from all sectors and levels contributing to the Tien Giang's tourism development measures under the Resolution No.54. He affirmed that in the coming time, the political system will continue to participate in tourism development.

The Provincial People's Committee will direct relevant agencies to prepare the dossiers and procedures to submit to the Provincial People's Council for adoption of a number of policies to support organizations and individuals to invest in the construction of specific tourist areas and spots, to turn tourism into spearhead economic branches, contributing budgets and increase incomes for local people.
