Vice Chairman of Hanoi municipal People’s Committee and Head of the Hanoi Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation Campaign, Ngo Van Quy, said that voluntary blood donation campaigns have been conducted widely and frequently in Hanoi, becoming a meaningful activity attracting a large number of people.
Hanoi received 210,000 units of blood in 2018 from 3% of its population. However, the amount of donated blood has yet to meet the increasing demand for patients, Quy noted, asking for the opening of more mobile blood donation points to attract the participation of more people.
On the occasion, 30 families and individuals were honoured for making great contributions to the voluntary blood donation campaigns.
On the same day, the Steering Committee for voluntary blood donation of Ha Giang province, the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion and the Ha Giang Red Cross Society launched the fourth blood donation movement entitled “Blood in the stone region” in Ha Giang province.
With the message of “donating blood-giving life”, the event has attracted the participation of 2,250 donors and has received 682 units of blood.
