ABO - In the face of complicated development of the African cholera epidemic, Chairman of the Tien Giang provincial People’s Committee (PPC) Le Van Huong inspected the African swine fever prevention work in Cai Be district and Cai Lay town, on June 2.

Through checking the situation, Chairman of the PPC suggested that the local Party Committee and authorities strengthen the propaganda, inspect, urge and remind the livestock households that are conscious of protecting pigs and actively spraying preventive medicine.

For functional branches, it was necessary to strengthen the inspection and supervision of epidemics, not to appear the situation of dead pig carcasses on canals, especially localities adjacent to other provinces.
In addition, specialized forces needed to strictly control the transport and slaughtering of pigs, especially small and home-based establishments; as well as checking pork trading and trading activities at markets; urgently mobilize the shock team with expertise to respond.

Chairman of the PPC also asked the Tien Giang province Department of Animal Health, Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to go down to the locality, instructing prevention and quarantine.
