FAO works with Tien Giang province on the African swine fever prevention

ABO - After the actual survey on July 14 on measures to destroy and treat pigs infected in Chau Thanh district and and Cai Lay district, the expert delegation of the US Department of Agriculture and the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), which was proposed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam to support Vietnam in the African swine fever prevention, has exchanged with leaders of Tien Giang Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Provincial Animal Health Department and many households in these two districts on epidemic.

Leaders of the Tien Giang Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Provincian Veterinary presented the situation and the African swine fever prevention in the province as well as the disinfection work, destroying infected pigs and preventive solutions, not allowing epidemic to penetrate into areas where outbreaks have not yet appeared.

In addition, the professional sector and households have set out many problems, especially the path of disease spread, the frequency of sterilization and disinfection, the re-returning to the post-epidemic as well as the effective solutions help to keep the pigs in the East without infected disease.

The expert delegation of the US Department of Agriculture and FAO also discussed with the provincial professional sector and pig raising households many practical problems such as: skills of injecting dead pigs, antiseptic solution, advantages of slaughtering pigs by burning, then burying and the effects of weather during the destruction process.

Through actual survey and exchange, the expert delegation of the US Department of Agriculture and FAO organization said that this is an effective way with many advantages, in accordance with the local reality; at the same time, they appreciated the interest and efforts of the local authorities. The sharing of the industry and livestock households will help experts to meet more advantages in helping Vietnam to prevent the African swine fever, etc…
