Gia Thuan commune recognized as new rural area

ABO - On January 3, the Tien Giang provincial Standing Steering Committee for National Targeted Program proclaimed Gia Thuan commune of Go Cong Dong district as new rural commune.

This event saw an attendance of Standing Vice Chairman of the Tien Giang People's Committee Le Van Nghia; Chairman of the Tien Giang Fatherland Front Committee Nguyen Chi Trung  and departments, agencies, unions and numerous local people.

This is the 9th commune in Go Cong Dong district recognized as new rural commune as well as the first commune in the province recognized as new rural commune in 2020.

After building new rural area, up to now, Gia Thuan commune has reached 19/19 new rural area criteria. Currently, the per capita income is 50 million VND/year; the rate of poor households decreases to 3.8%; the rate of people participated in health insurance reaches 100%; 100% of households use clean water meeting the standards, etc…

Comrade Le Van Nghia suggested the Party Committee and authority of Gia Thuan commune continue to lead and have specific solutions to perfect and improve the achieved criteria, especially for criteria and targets such as: production organization, income, health insurance, environment, food safety, etc...

At the same time, focusing on implementing well the integration of programs and projects to improve the quality of the criteria, to build Gia Thuan commune to meet the advanced new rural area standards.

On this occasion, the Tien Giang People's Committee awarded the emulation flag and welfare project worth 1 billion VND to Gia Thuan commune.
