Efforts made to care for ethnic minority groups
ABO/NDO - A conference was held in Hanoi on October 11 to review the five-year cooperation programme between the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the Committee for Ethnic Minority Affairs in the 2017-2021 period.
Under the programme, the two sides have co-organised communication events and activities to encourage ethnic minority groups to follow the Party’s guideline and the State’s laws and policies on ethnic affairs.

They have also worked together to preserve and promote the cultural identities of ethnic groups while improving their livelihoods and social welfare.
The bilateral cooperation has contributed to enhancing infrastructure, strengthening the building of new-style rural areas, reducing poverty, advancing education and healthcare, consolidating the political system, and maintaining social order and safety in the ethnic and mountainous areas.
Notably, Fatherland Fronts at all level have been active in protecting the legal and legitimate rights and interests of ethnic minority groups, supervising the implementation of the policies on ethnic affairs while collecting the aspirations and recommendations of ethnic minorities in order to report them to the Party and the local authorities in a timely manner.
At the conference, the two sides inked the cooperation plan for the next five years, which sets out fundamental tasks and solutions to facilitate the implementation of the national target programme on socio-economic development in ethnic and mountainous areas in the 2021-2025 period.
