Ho Chi Minh City inaugurates Thu Thiem 2 Bridge
ABO/NDO - The Ho Chi Minh City government held a ceremony on April 28 to inaugurate the Thu Thiem Bridge, which links District 1 with Thu Duc City across the Saigon River.
The 3,100 billion VND (134.6 million USD) bridge is also expected to boost socio-economic development for Ho Chi Minh City in general and the Thu Thiem New Urban Area in particular.

Construction of the bridge began in April 2017, with one end at the Ton Duc Thang-Le Duan intersection and the other connecting with Tran Bach Dang Street, with a total length of 1,465 metres, including the approach road.
The cable-stayed bridge’s main tower resembles a dragon leaning towards the Thu Thiem New Urban Area, creating a new symbol for Ho Chi Minh City.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ho Chi Minh City Chairman Phan Van Mai highlighted the significance of the bridge in the city’s post-coronavirus economic recovery and development.
He stated that the city will continue giving priority to transport infrastructure development projects in the future, such as the 3rd Ring Road, the An Phu Interchange, National Highway 50 expansion and the Ho Chi Minh City-Moc Bai Expressway.
