Hanoi inaugurates new underpass to ease congestion
ABO/NDO- An underpass at the intersection between Hanoi’s Le Van Luong Street and Ring Road 3 was inaugurated on October 5, and is expected to improve traffic on one of the most heavily congested streets in the capital city.
The 475-metre-long underpass features four lanes, with two in each direction across a width of 7.75 metres, and a 1-metre-wide median strip.
To carry out the project, which costs 700 billion VND (29.3 million USD), the contractors had to narrow 300 metres of the pavement along Le Van Luong Street and 400 metres of the pavement along To Huu Street.

The underpass is expected to help ease congestion at the intersection and improve road infrastructure in the capital city’s western area.
A lane dedicated to the BRT route traversing the intersection has also been restored to its original state before construction of the underpass commenced.
This is the fourth underpass that Hanoi has put into service, with the three others being Kim Lien-Xa Dan in 2009, and Trung Hoa and Thanh Xuan both in 2016.
