General Association of Vietnamese People in Laos has new leadership
ABO/NDO- The General Association of Vietnamese People in Laos held its third congress and elected an executive committee for the 2022 - 2026 tenure on December 12.
The event in Vientiane adopted the revised statutes of the general association, reviewed performance during 2015 - 2022, and defined orientations for the new tenure, including aligning the association’s activities with the new context, including the socio-economic situation in Laos, the development of the two countries’ relations, and the role and stature of the Vietnamese community in Laos.
A 23-member executive committee was elected for the third tenure, with Pham Van Hung serving as new chairman of the general association.

Addressing the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Ba Hung spoke highly of contributions by the second-tenure executive committee as well as achievements by the Vietnamese community in Laos.
The ambassador asked the new executive committee to further reform their activities, strongly boost the general association’s coordination with its chapters, and stay united to help with the development of Laos and the homeland.
He also took this occasion to thank the Lao Ministry of Home Affairs, the Lao Front for National Construction, and relevant agencies of the host country for supporting the general association.
The diplomat expressed his hope that authorities of Laos will continue creating conditions for the association to build a united Vietnamese community to contribute to Laos's development, the two countries’ special relations, and the homeland.
Founded on August 19, 2009, the General Association of Vietnamese People in Laos now has 14 chapters in provinces and cities across the host country.
