Practice of tea growing in Tan Cuong recognised as national heritage

ABO/NDO- The knowledge on growing and processing tea in the Tan Cuong area in Vietnam’s northern province of Thai Nguyen has been inscribed on the list of national intangible cultural heritages.

The inscription was announced at a ceremony held on April 5 in Tan Cuong Commune in Thai Nguyen Province’s eponymous capital city.

Tan Cuong’s trade of growing and processing tea began in the 1920s. Since then, the cultivation area has grown to more than 1,300 hectares today, with an annual output of 20,000 tonnes.

The region’s soil and climate conditions are suitable for the tea trees while local residents have acquired a wealth of experience in growing and processing tea to create unique products.
