Second phase of 'Young Health Programme Vietnam' launched

ABO/NDO- AstraZeneca Vietnam announced on October 2 that the Vietnam Ministry of Education and Training and Plan International Vietnam jointly launched the second phase of the ‘Young Health Programme Vietnam’ for the 2023-2025 period.

The programme is a global community investment initiative of AstraZeneca, focusing on youth and prevention of the most common non-communicable diseases, such as cancer, diabetes, heart disease and respiratory disease.

The second phase of the programme will be implemented over three years, to improve the health and life quality of the Vietnamese youth, especially those between 10-24 years of age.

Besides communication campaigns, awareness-raising activities are scheduled to take place at schools in the districts of Cau Giay, Long Bien, Dong Anh and Hai Ba Trung, in Hanoi.

The programme aims to ensure that young people in Hanoi have increased knowledge about risk behaviours and non-communicable disease prevention, which gives them greater capacity to make informed decisions about their health, in the context of improved health services, an enabling support system and a policy environment.

Company President of AstraZeneca in Vietnam Nitin Kapoor said, “We aim to provide knowledge and skills related to the prevention of non-communicable diseases, directly to about 49,300 Vietnamese adolescents at 29 schools and universities. In addition, we will also provide information to about 300,000 people in the community, through awareness-raising activities on mass media”.

After three years of the first phase during the 2019-2022 period, the programme had completed all major targets, despite the huge challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
