Construction commences on Cho Chu - Trung Son Junction section of Ho Chi Minh Highway

ABO/NDO- The construction of the Cho Chu - Trung Son Junction section, the final sub-project of the Ho Chi Minh Highway, was commenced at a ceremony held by the Ministry of Transport on June 7.

The sub-project connects Cho Chu in Dinh Hoa District, Thai Nguyen Province, and Trung Son Junction in Yen Son District, Tuyen Quang Province.

The route has a total length of 29.98km and a width of two lanes, allowing vehicles to travel at a designed speed of 60kph.

Total investment capital is estimated at 1.665 trillion VND (69.3 million USD), to be sourced from the State budget.

The construction of the project is expected to be completed in 2025.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Traffic Nguyen Duy Lam said that once completed, the route will create an inter-regional road system which helps to reduce traffic load on regional roads and promote the socio-economic and tourism development of Thai Nguyen and Tuyen Quang provinces as well as northern midland and mountainous areas in general.

The Ho Chi Minh Highway will pass through 30 cities and provinces, from Pac Bo in the northern mountainous province of Cao Bang, which borders China, to Dat Mui in the southernmost province of Ca Mau. It will have a total length of nearly 3,200 km with total investment capital of an estimated 99.2 trillion VND (4.23 billion USD).
