Over 2,000 join run for zero violence against women and girls

ABO/NDO- More than 2,000 runners took part in a race at Thien Quang Lake in Hanoi on December 8 to spread the message of joining hands to end violence against women and children.

This is the third time that such a running event has been held by the Centre for Studies and Applied Sciences in Gender, Family, Women and Adolescents (CSAGA) and UNFPA Vietnam in response to the National Action Month for gender equality and prevention of gender-based violence.

The event run drew the participation of many amateur runners as well as representatives from vulnerable groups, who took part in two categories: 2.5 kilometres and 5 kilometres.

Under the motto “Run for a Vietnam with zero violence against women and girls”, the runners shared hundreds of inspiring messages to the community and those suffering from gender-based violence, urging them to raise their voices, share their stories, and call for change.

Speaking at the event, Head of UNFPA Vietnam Matt Jackson stated that the participation of over 2,000 people has demonstrated the strength of community in creating a happy future with zero gender-based violence.
