Hanoi implements special square-park in the eastern area of Hoan Kiem Lake

ABO/NDO- The Hanoi People's Committee Office on March 11 issued Notice No.118/TB-VP, summarising the conclusions of Duong Duc Tuan, Vice Chairman of the Municipal People's Committee, at a meeting on planning and renovating the space in the eastern area of Hoan Kiem Lake.

The city has assigned the Hanoi Municipal Department of Planning and Architecture to study architectural plans for the eastern area of Hoan Kiem Lake, aiming to transform it into a special square-park.

The department will also plan and organise underground spaces in the area, connecting them with the underground space of Station C9 on Urban Railway Line No. 2, Nam Thang Long – Tran Hung Dao section (Phase 1).

The Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee has agreed on conclusions and directed the Department of Finance to promptly advise and propose the establishment of a municipal task force, define its operational regulations, and form a supporting team to carry out planning and renovation tasks for the eastern area of Hoan Kiem Lake. The task force is required to report to the People's Committee by March 11, 2025.

Additionally, the municipal task force will draft a report from the Party Committee of the People's Committee to the Standing Committee and Executive Committee of the Hanoi Party Committee regarding the investment and construction project for the special square-park in the eastern area of Hoan Kiem Lake. The report must be submitted to the Hanoi People's Committee before March 13, 2025.

The city has assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to review, systematise, and provide a 1/500 scale topographic map of the area to the Hoan Kiem District People's Committee and the Institute for Construction Planning before March 10, 2025. This will support the preparation of the general site plan and architectural proposals. Additionally, the department will provide cadastral information and documents to the Hoan Kiem District People's Committee for inventory, compensation planning, support measures, and site clearance. It will also advise and propose adjustments to land-use planning, allocation of land-use quotas, and other necessary measures to facilitate the project's implementation.
