Nine Vietnamese universities ranked in world subject Rankings

ABO/NDO- Times Higher Education (THE) has recently announced its 2025 World University Rankings by subject. 

A total of nine Vietnamese universities have been listed across eight out of eleven subject groups, including Business & Economics, Computer Science, Education, Engineering, Life Sciences, Medicine & Health, Physical Sciences, and Social Sciences.

The rankings are based on data from 1,700 universities across more than 100 countries and territories. Evaluations are conducted using a set of indicators that are carefully examined to comprehensively assess a university’s ability to provide an excellent learning and research environment, as well as its contributions to the global community.

The nine Vietnamese universities included in THE’s 2025 rankings are Vietnam National University-Hanoi, Vietnam National University-Ho Chi Minh City, Duy Tan University, Ton Duc Thang University, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi Medical University, Ho Chi Minh City Open University, and Hue University. Vietnam National University-Hanoi is the only higher education institution in Vietnam recognised by THE for its educational research capabilities. It is also ranked across all eight subject groups.

Meanwhile, Vietnam National University-Ho Chi Minh City, Duy Tan University, and Ton Duc Thang University have been recognised in seven groups: Business & Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, Life Sciences, Medicine & Health, Physical Sciences, and Social Sciences.

Other institutions were recognised for their strengths in specific fields. Hanoi Medical University was ranked in Medicine & Health, while University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City was listed in Business & Economics and Social Sciences. Hanoi University of Science and Technology was recognised in the areas of Computer Science, Engineering, and Physical Sciences.

The inclusion of nine Vietnamese universities in THE’s rankings by subjects highlights the continuous efforts of local higher education institutions to enhance the quality of education and research.

THE is a globally recognised ranking organisation that evaluates universities based on criteria such as teaching, research, citations, international outlook, and industry income. Its rankings are widely trusted by academics and students worldwide.
