Hue Central Hospital affirms its position through organ transplantation

ABO/NDO- During the 2020–2025 term, Hue Central Hospital has achieved remarkable progress in its medical examination, treatment, training, and scientific research, of which organ transplantation continues to be established as a leading professional spearhead.

According to the political report presented at the 12th Party Congress of Hue Central Hospital, held on June 10, the hospital has successfully carried out over 2,400 organ transplants, including heart, liver, kidney, bone marrow, heart-lung, and stem cell transplants. Notably, cross-Viet Nam heart transplants achieved a 100% success rate.

Pham Nhu Hiep, Party Secretary and Director of Hue Central Hospital, said that organ transplantation demands highly advanced techniques, comprehensive coordination, and interdisciplinary cooperation. Achieving today’s results reflects the long-term dedication of our medical team and strategic, well-planned investment in over two decades.”

In addition to organ transplants, the hospital has also developed many modern techniques such as 3D endoscopic surgery, cardiovascular intervention, advanced neonatal resuscitation, gene-based cancer radiotherapy, and AI applications in imaging diagnosis. On average, the hospital examines more than 900,000 patients, treats more than 190,000 inpatients, and performs more than 50,000 surgeries each year.

In terms of training and research, the hospital has carried out over 1,400 scientific research projects and organised hundreds of domestic and international medical conferences. Especially, the policy of covering 100% of doctoral training costs for staff is considered a strategic move to develop a high-quality healthcare workforce.

In the 2025–2030 period, Hue Central Hospital aims to become one of six public hospitals in Viet Nam meeting international standards. Major projects are underway, including Phase 2 of Hue International Hospital, the construction of a Clinical Medical Training and Research Centre, and new advanced technical centres specialising in stroke treatment, haematology, and surgery.

“We will continue to strengthen international cooperation, enhance specialised techniques, and implement comprehensive digital transformation to improve both management and treatment. Our goal is not only to save patients’ lives but also to sustainably improve patients’ quality of life,” Hiep emphasised.

Hue Central Hospital currently operates with a capacity of over 5,000 hospital beds in three facilities, making it one of Viet Nam’s special-class hospitals. With its modern technical infrastructure and a team of highly trained medical professionals, the hospital is steadily affirming its role as a centre of advanced medicine in both Viet Nam and the region at large.
