Viet Nam dominates at international pastry and bakery competition

ABO/NDO- Vietnamese chefs have won 16 gold medals, 5 silver medals, 11 bronze medals and two cups at the Battle of Pastry & Bakery Chefs 2025 held in Penang, Malaysia, from July 18–20.

Chef Duong Minh Tri alone secured three gold medals and was honoured with the best chef cup.

The championship cup also went to the Vietnamese delegation, demonstrating the consistent performance of Vietnamese chefs across various categories.

The Battle of Pastry & Bakery Chefs 2025 gathered over 400 chefs from countries and territories such as Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, China, the Republic of Korea and Viet Nam.

The Vietnamese delegation comprised 15 chefs from the Saigon Chefs Club under the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Association and the Viet Nam Pastry Association under the Viet Nam Tourism Association.

Contestants competed across numerous categories, from wedding cakes and cold desserts to art bread, chocolate sculptures, and exquisitely crafted decorative sugar work.

Over the three-day competition, the Vietnamese team demonstrated their skill, thorough preparation, and strong team spirit, enabling them to triumph over formidable opponents from across Asia.

Nguyen Thi Khanh, Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Association, stated that the chefs’ achievements represent not only a victory for Vietnamese baking, but also a contribution to affirming Viet Nam’s culinary standing on the regional stage.
