Vietnam, Mongolia mark 60 years of diplomatic ties in Hanoi

Vietnamese and Mongolian officials celebrated 60 years of diplomatic ties in Hanoi on November 17.

Addressing the distinguished guests, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Duc Phat acknowledged the progress made on political, socio-economic and cultural fronts, and made it clear that the government of Vietnam was keen to foster friendly cooperation with Mongolia for the benefit of the two nations.

Mongolian Ambassador Enkhbat said in full confidence that bilateral ties had come a long way in a number of spheres, especially economics, agriculture, education and national defence.

Ambassador Enkhbat was awarded the Vietnamese State’s Friendship Order at the ceremony while the Order of the Polar Star, Mongolia’s highest state accolade, and the Friendship Order were granted to several Vietnamese individuals who contributed to the bilateral friendship.

President Truong Tan Sang sent a congratulatory message the same day to the Mongolian President Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj over the anniversary celebrations.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung cabled congratulations to their Mongolian counterparts Dendev Terbishdagva and Zandaakhuuglin Enkhbold.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh conveyed a message of congratulations to Minister of the Cabinet Office and interim Foreign Minister Chimed Saikhanbileg.
