The meeting was chaired by Deputy Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung and drew the attendance of representatives from 20 ministries and sectors that participate in ASEAN co-operation.

At the meeting, participants agreed that in 2014, ASEAN member countries continued their joint efforts and achieved remarkable results in the implementation of the Roadmap for an ASEAN Community by 2015.

In the past year, Vietnam also played an important role in contributing to the regional co-operation, as well as promoting solidarity, consensus and the central role of ASEAN in addressing major challenges in the region, particularly in the East Sea with the ASEAN Foreign Minister’s Statement on the Current Developments in the East Sea issued on May 10, 2014, further enhancing the full and effective implementation of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC), and the early conclusion of the Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC).

The country also engaged in the Master Plan on Building ASEAN’s Politics-Security Community, contributed to enhancing economic connectivity, boosting co-operation in social security, environment, and climate change, and ensuring the rights of migrant workers.

In 2015, Vietnam will focus on speeding up the formation of the ASEAN Community, participate in mapping out the post 2015 Vision of the ASEAN Community and Master Plans to implement the Vision, as well as join other Southeast Asian nations to reinforce solidarity, consensus and the central role of ASEAN in maintaining peace, stability, security and co-operation in the region and around the world.
