Meeting celebrates 65th anniversary of Vietnam-Russia diplomatic ties
The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) and the Vietnam-Russia Friendship Association (VRFA) jointly held a meeting in Hanoi on January 30 to mark the 65th anniversary of Vietnam-Russia diplomatic ties (January 30, 1950-2015).

In his remarks, President of the VRFA Dao Trong Thi affirmed that Vietnam-Russia co-operative relations have been growing well in every field since the two countries established bilateral diplomatic ties 65 years ago.
Vietnam and Russia have set up a periodic strategic dialogue mechanism, exchanged high-profile delegations to discuss political issues of mutual concern, and co-operated closely with each other at regional and international forums, Thi said.
He added that in addition to enhanced political relations, bilateral co-operation in economics-trade, energy, education, security and national defence, have also seen outstanding results, with two-way trade turnover increasing from US$300-400 million in the 1990s to nearly US$4 billion in 2013.
The VRFA president expressed his deep gratitude for Russia’s support of Vietnam in the country’s past struggle for independence and its current national construction, while affirming the VRFA and Vietnamese people will exert every effort to strengthen the traditional friendship and promote comprehensive co-operation between the two countries.
For her part, Russian Charge d’Affaires to Vietnam Vadim Vladirovich Bublikov thanked the VUFO and VRFA for organising the anniversary and reviewed the co-operative achievements made by the two countries over the past 65 years.
Hailing the role of people-to-people diplomacy between the two countries, Bublikov affirmed that the VUFO and VRFA have been making active contributions to deepening the understanding and co-operation between Vietnamese and Russian people.
VRFA President Thi and Russian Charge d’Affaires Vadim Vladirovich Bublikov wished the Vietnam-Russia friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership continue growing in the future, for the benefit of the two countries’ people, contributing practically to regional and world peace and prosperity.
On behalf of the Party and State, Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai presented the first-class Labour Order to the VRFA in recognition of its contributions to promoting friendship and co-operation between Vietnamese and Russian people.
