Party chief leaves for official visit to US

General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam’s Central Committee (CPVCC) Nguyen Phu Trong left Hanoi on the night of July 5 for an official visit to the United States of America from July 6-10 at the invitation of the US administration.

The Party chief led a high-ranking delegation comprised of Politburo member and National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong; Politburo member and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Le Thanh Hai; and Politburo member, Secretary of the CPVCC and Head of the Party Central Committee Office, Tran Quoc Vuong.

He was also accompanied by members of the CPVCC, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh; Head of the Party Central Committee's Commission for External Relations, Hoang Binh Quan; Minister of Planning and Investment Bui Quang Vinh; Minister of Industry and Trade Vu Huy Hoang; Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam Nguyen Van Binh; Deputy Defence Minister Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh; among others.

The entourage also grouped Vietnamese Ambassador to the US Pham Quang Vinh, and Ambassador and Head of the permanent Vietnamese mission to the United Nations, Nguyen Phuong Nga.
