Party leader to make official visit to US

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong will make an official visit to the United States of America from July 6-10, the Party Central Committee's Commission for External Relations announced on July 3.

The visit is made at the invitation of the US administration.

Vietnam and the US are marking the 20th anniversary of the normalisation of diplomatic ties this year.

Two-way trade between the two countries reached US$ 35 billion in 2014, up from about US$500 million in 1995.
