Quan hailed the fruitful visit of the Bangladeshi President, which he said takes place at a crucial time as Vietnam is preparing for the 70th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19) and National Day (September 2).
Both countries share a lot of similarities and have a large population, he said, adding that the President’s visit will help expand and elevate the bilateral relations to a new height.
He also took this opportunity to thank Bangladesh for supporting Vietnamese people during the cause of national independence, construction and development.
For his part, President Abdul Hamid said while this is the first time he has visited Vietnam, he always regards the country as a brother and vowed to promote the close relationship between the two nations.
He expressed his hope that Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City in particular would continue to create favourable conditions for Bangladeshi nationals to visit and work in the country.
The same day, President Abdul Hamid met with representatives from the Bangladeshi community in the city and visited the Cu Chi tunnels historical site.
