Vietnamese parliament leader Nguyen Sinh Hung arrives in Washington

Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly Nguyen Sinh Hung and a delegation of high-ranking officials have arrived in Washington DC, commencing their official visit to the United States.

The visit came at the invitation of President pro tempore of the US Senate Patrick Leahy, Speaker of the US House of Representatives John Boehner and Chairman of the US Senate Armed Services Committee John McCain.

The private jet carrying Chairman Hung landed in the US capital at 14:00 on September 5 local time at the Andrews Air Field where he and the Vietnamese delegation were welcomed by staff from the Vietnamese Embassy in Washington DC.
 
According to the planned schedule, the National Assembly chairman will meet with senior US Congress leaders, US Secretary of State John Kerry, visit the hometown of the first US President George Washington, the National Museum of American History, the National Archives Museum, the Lincoln Memorial and the Martin Luther King, Jr. memorial.
 
Chairman Hung is also expected to attend a workshop organised by the World Bank and meet staff at the Vietnamese Embassy in Washington DC.
