Vietnam-Azerbaijan Friendship Association established

The Vietnam-Azerbaijan Friendship Association was officially established at a congress held by the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) in Hanoi on October 10.

The association's executive committee of 39 members was elected at the congress with Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Scientific and Technological Associations (VUSTA) Nghiem Vu Khai elected as the association's Chairman in the 2015-2020 period.

The establishment of the Vietnam-Azerbaijan Friendship Association was approved by the Vietnamese Ministry of Home Affairs in July 2015 as a social association operating under the Charter ratified by Minister of the Home Affairs.
 
VUFO Chairman Vu Xuan Hong said the Vietnam-Azerbaijan Friendship Association is the 110th member of the VUFO, adding that the association will help Vietnam expand the relations with Azerbaijani organisations, enterprises, research institutes, and universities among others in various fields.
 
Azerbaijani Ambassador to Vietnam Anar Imanov expressed his belief that with its plans put forth at the congress, the Vietnam-Azerbaijan Friendship Association, would contribute to promoting the friendship and co-operation between the two countries.
 
Chairman of the Vietnam-Azerbaijan Friendship Association Nghiem Vu Khai said the association would actively implement activities to increase the mutual understanding, people-to-people exchanges and co-operation between the two sides.
