Vietnam, South Africa enhance co-operation in communication on external affairs
A Vietnamese delegation of the Steering Committee for External Information Service (SCEIS) headed by Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Communications and Education and the SCEIS’ Permanent Deputy Head Pham Van Linh paid a working visit to South Africa from April 24-29 to enhance links in communication between the two countries.
Linh was accompanied by Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee's Commission for External Relations, Nguyen Tuan Phong, Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee Office Le Quang Vinh, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan newspaper Le Quoc Khanh and Vietnamese Ambassador to South Africa Le Huy Hoang.

The delegation had working sessions with the International Relations Manager of the ruling African National Congress (ANC) Ribbon Mosholi, ANC National Communications Manager Keith Khoza, Politburo member of the South African Communist Party (SACP) Sheila Barsel and her comrades, ANC Provincial Secretary of the Western Cape Faiez Jacobs and representatives from South Africa’s Ministry of Information and Communications.
During the sessions, the delegation congratulated South African people and the ANC on their all-round achievements and extended congratulations from the Communist Party and State of Vietnam to South African President Jacob Zuma and the ANC on the 22th National Day of the African country (April 27, 1994-2016).
They also briefed the hosts on Vietnam’s recent socio-economic development, sound outcomes of the 12th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and the regional and international situation.
The Vietnamese guests suggested the two countries continue mutual support at regional and international forums, and promote international law for peace, stability and development in the region and the world.
Representatives from the ANC and the SACP highlighted the significance of the visit, saying that it contributes to promoting co-operation in communication on external affairs as well as relations between the countries and between their respective parties and the CPV.
The ANC affirmed it attaches importance to developing the traditional friendship with Vietnam.
The hosts also expressed their admiration for Vietnam’s development achievements in every aspect, especially the country’s efforts in realising Millennium Development Goals and international integration.
The delegation visited the Vietnamese Embassy in South Africa and the Vietnam News Agency’s representative office to boost the agencies’ performance in communications and update the Vietnamese representatives on the 12th Party Congress’ resolution and the country’s situation.
