She made the remark on October 1 at a meeting with the staff of the embassy and representatives of Vietnamese enterprises in Myanmar during her visit to the ASEAN member country.
She told them that Myanmar was a very important partner to Vietnam and that Vietnam had also become a crucial investor and trade partner for Myanmar. She added that over the years the two countries had unceasingly stepped up their traditional friendship and multi-faceted co-operation in a variety of sectors.
She attributed these achievements largely to the efforts made by the Vietnamese embassy, Vietnamese businesses and overseas Vietnamese in Myanmar.
Chairwoman Ngan asked the embassy staff to pay due attention to protecting Vietnamese citizens in the context of regional and global complexities.
“The embassy should work with relevant agencies to organise Vietnamese language classes for the children of expatriates as part of an effort to draw expatriates’ attention to their homeland and to preserve and promote their national identity,” she said.
Chairwoman Ngan praised the Vietnamese community and businesses in Myanmar for their contributions to the host country’s economic development, as well as to the relationship between Vietnam and Myanmar.
The head of Vietnam’s legislature is on an official visit to Myanmar, the final leg of her ASEAN tour, and is attending the 37th General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA 37) in Nay Pyi Taw.
