8,875 hectares of vegetables planted in Go Cong Dong coastal district

ABO - In order to concretize the objective of production transformation to adapt to climate change, to help the people in the land difficult to ensure social security, by the beginning of August 2019, farmers in Go Cong Dong coastal district planted 8,875 hectares vegetables, reaching 84.25% of the target for the whole year 2019.

Farmers have harvested over 148,000 tons of vegetables and fruits of all kinds, reaching 72.3% of the yearly plan and increasing over 3,220 tons with the same period last year.

According to Go Cong Dong District Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, although there have been many fluctuations in the price of vegetables in the market since the beginning of the year, in general, the economy of planting vegetables were higher than the previous monoculture. Specifically, cabbage, spinach, etc… have prices ranging from 3,000-7,000 VND/kg, particularly onion leaf up to 32,000 VND/kg. Types of fruits and vegetables such as tomatoes, gourd, pumpkin, etc... have been sold with prices from 6,000-17,000 VND/kg, especially, chili with price of 60,000 VND/kg.

Farmers of many communes in Go Cong Ding district as Binh An, Binh Nghi, Tang Hoa, Tan Thanh, Tan Dien, etc... were interested in promoting the potential of growing vegetables, diversifying crop structure and adapting to changes climate change, etc...
