Currently, the eastern districts have 208 water supply stations for 151,125 rural households. Among these water supply stations, there are 18 stations managed by Tien Giang Water Supply Ltd.;  35 stations managed by private and business; 75 stations managed by cooperatives and cooperative groups; 91 stations use underground water, 14 stations use water from Dong Tam water plant. Particularly in Tan Phu Dong district, there are 2 water supply stations for 8,951 rural households, reaching 75.63% of the rural population.

As a general assessment, most water supply stations meet the quality requirements. However, there are some existing water stations with high salinity, unstable water pressure. The end of the water flow is weak and not continuous. Therefore, the immediate and long-term solution to ensure domestic water supply for people is to invest in a pipeline to receive water from the Dong Tam Water Plant to the water shortage area or replace unqualified water sources.

According to leaders of companies, cooperatives and water supply cooperatives, the current difficulty is that the capital and operating costs of some units are not guaranteed due to low water prices. Besides, the process of protecting surface water and overcoming water quality is still limited.

Speaking at the conference, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Van Huong acknowledged the comments and recommendations of the leaders of departments, branches, People's Committees of districts and water supply units. At the same time, he suggested that the relevant unit must have plans and survey the status of water supply units. The cooperatives and cooperatives should evaluate the capacity and operational capacity of each unit, thereby developing an appropriate water supply and linkage plan to improve the quality of water for people.
