According to a newly released VTV statement, the national broadcaster has been licensed by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) to hold the media monopoly (including television and radio) on a free and / or paid basis over all programmes related to the UEFA Euro 2020 across the Vietnamese territory.

The deal includes cable TV, satellite, terrestrial, mobile, IPTV, Internet, public screening and social media rights, the statement said.

VTV has the rights to exploit and use photos and materials on the UEFA Euro 2020 in accordance with UEFA regulations, produce and provide match and matchday clips, and re-license the UEFA Euro 2020 media copyright to third-party units within the Vietnamese territory.

Any newspapers, stations, providers of TV services and clip exploiters which have the demand for sharing and using the UEFA Euro 2020 broadcast rights within the Vietnamese territory will need to work with VTV for detailed terms.

The UEFA Euro 2020, the 16th of its kind, is scheduled to be held in 12 cities across 12 European countries from June 12 to July 12, 2020. With no single country being designated as host of the tournament, no teams will be exempt from the qualification tournament. Accordingly, 55 European football squads will battle it out for 20 places in the Euro 2020 finals, which also features four additional qualifiers from the UEFA Nations League competition.

Olimpico Stadium in Rome, Italy, has been chosen as the hosting venue for the opening ceremony and the opening clash of the Euro 2020. Wembley Stadium in London is planned to host the semi-finals and final.
