Puppetry festival opens in Hai Phong

ABO/NDO- The 2023 Hai Phong Puppetry Festival opened in the north port city of Hai Phong on May 2, with the participation of 120 artists from 7 puppetry troupes.

Director of the Hai Phong Department of Culture and Sports Tran Thi Hoang Mai said that the event has contributed to preserving and promoting the cultural values of traditional puppetry.

The Organizing Committee presented flowers to leaders of puppet troupes attending the festival.

The shows also brought the people a unique spiritual gift to celebrate the 68th anniversary of Hai Phong Liberation Day (May 13, 1955-13/5/2023) and the Hoa Phuong Do (Red Flamboyant Flower) Festival in 2023.

Programmes and plays at the festival are expected to introduce to domestic and foreign tourists a unique art form and cultural product, helping them to feel more deeply about cultural life and people of Hai Phong in particular, and Vietnam in general.

The festival is scheduled to run until 7.
