Gifts presented to needy people to enjoy warm Tet holiday

Locales nationwide are making efforts ahead of the Lunar New Year (Tet) festival to ensure that needy people, ethnic minority groups and policy beneficiaries can celebrate a prosperous year.

On January 15, Politburo member and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Dinh La Thang came to Mien Tay Bus Station to present Tet gifts to passengers. Secretary Dinh La Thang also expressed his satisfaction knowing that the main bus stations of Mien Tay, Mien Dong, An Suong and Nga Tu Ga will serve 1.4 million passengers during the Tet holiday.

On the occasion of the holiday, Secretary Dinh La Thang also visited and presented gifts to disadvantaged households at An Lac A and An Lac B Wards in Tan Binh District.

On the same day, the Secretary also attended an art exchange programme, which was organised by the Command of Military Zone 7 and Con Dao District in Ba Ria–Vung Tau Province.

* As of January 15, the Labour Federation of Hanoi has spent over VND 15.2 billion to help workers to enjoy a happy Tet. Over 3,100 gifts, worth VND 1 million each, have been presented to labourers, and more than 1,400 bus and coach tickets and 600 buses were contracted to send workers home for family reunions during the Tet holiday.

* In Da Nang, the local Labour Federation presented over 104,500 gifts, worth from VND200,000 to VND500,000 each, to workers in the city. Nearly 4,500 bus and coach tickets and 42 buses will be contracted to send workers home for family reunions during the Tet holiday.

* In Ho Chi Minh City, Tuoi Tre (The Youth) newspaper and the Support Fund for Cancer Patients’ Bright Future presented 443 gifts, worth VND600,000 each, to 410 child patients and 33 other patients.

* In Hai Phong, over 110 gifts, worth VND 73 billion, were givrn to Agent Orange/Dioxin (AO) victims in Le Chan, Ngo Quyen, Kien An, Hai An and An Duong Districts.
The Red Cross Society of Hai Phong presented 1,000 Tet gifts, worth VND340 million, to poor households.
