13th Press Award for the Cause of Great National Unity launched

The Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee on June 19 launched the 13th Press Award for the Cause of Great National Unity 2017- 2018 and the debut of its Front Electronic Journal, in commemoration of the 92nd anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925-2017).

Speaking at the ceremony, Politburo member cum President of VFF Central Committee, Nguyen Thien Nhan, gave his sincere thanks and best wishes to the press agencies for their silent and strenuous participation, in promptly reflecting information on the Front operation. Thanks to their efforts and creation, the Front work has been improved, facilitating journalists’ contribution to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.

Politburo member Nhan, who is also Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, affirmed that with 20,600 members from 800 press agencies, journalists and editors are important forces in reflecting the Party and the State's policies and laws, as well as the activities of relevant ministries, sectors and localities, and expressing the thoughts and aspirations of the people throughout the country, as well as initiating their models for national development. The media has been able to connect the people and the Party and authorities at all levels, he said.

He suggested that each journalist and editor, on the anniversary of the Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day, continue to implement Party resolutions on Party building and rectifying, contributing to the success of the National Press Award on the Fight against Corruption. In particular, in the context of global innovation, every journalist and editor needs to be innovative in order to meet their job requirements and help the people trust in the leadership of the Party and State to ensure the rapid development of the country.

At the ceremony, the VFF Central Committee launched the 13th Press Award "For the Cause of the Great National Unity" during 2017-2018.

According to the rules, journalistic papers must be timely and accurate in detecting and commenting on the Party and State's undertakings and policies and VFF programmes of action in building and promoting the strength of the great national unity bloc; while encouraging and motivating Party members, and people of all strata, to study and follow the moral example and style of President Ho Chi Minh, during the implementation of instructions and resolutions on Party building, setting up a clean and strong government, fighting against corruption, practicing thrift against wastefulness, and action programmes of the VFF during 2014-2019 term.
