Entries called for Vietnam's 2017 external information service awards

The National External Information Service Awards 2017 have been launched, calling for entries in seven different categories including print media, radio broadcast, television broadcast, electronic media, press photo, landscape photo and book.

The competition is open to all Vietnamese people, both at home and abroad, as well as foreigners whose works can be either in Vietnamese or in a foreign language and must be published between January 1, 2017 and December 31, 2017.

The works submitted for the awards must be authentic and persuasive, whilst being domestically and internationally communicative, receiving high appreciation from the public and effectively serving Vietnam’s external relation contents.

Key themes include Vietnamese culture and history, achievements of the Doi Moi reform, and Vietnam’s policies and standpoints on international issues.

The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place in Hanoi in May 2018.

Last year, the organisers received 893 works, an increase of 21% from the previous edition, including 349 works for the print media category, 204 for electronic media, 61 for radio, 112 for televised broadcasts, 106 for photos and 61 for books.

A total of 17 different languages were used and there was great diversity amongst the participants, ranging from journalists and collaborators of press agencies to experts, researchers, photographers, publishers, Vietnamese ambassadors abroad and foreign ambassadors in Vietnam.

Last year, Nhan Dan Newspaper won one second prize and four third prizes.
