Under the theme ‘Following the Footprints of Heroes’, the three-day event features various activities, including presenting scholarships to local disadvantaged students, a photo exhibition on the national sovereignty over its sea and island, an incense offering to war martyrs at Hang Duong cemetery and a screening of documentary films on the Con Dao historical site.

The programme is the sixth of its kind to be held to fuel patriotism and raise awareness of students in safeguarding the national territorial integration, while popularising the Party and State’s guidelines and policies on the country’s sea and islands.

Over its five editions, the programme has brought more than 3,000 youth union officers, members and students at home to island districts and cities nationwide, including Ly Son district (Quang Ngai province), Tho Chu and Phu Quoc districts (Kien Giang province), Quy Nhon city (Binh Dinh province), and Co To district (Quang Ninh province).

During the programme, the participants have an opportunity to partake in many practical activities, including constructing national flag poles, organising voluntary events supporting the community, and protecting the environment.
