At present, Go Cong Dong district had 180 cases of dengue fever, over 3 times higher than the same period last year, of which Tan Tay and Kieng Phuoc communes account for 50% of the total number of cases. Particularly, Kieng Phuoc commune had 50 cases of dengue fever with 8 outbreaks.

It is forecasted that in the following months, dengue will be complicated due to the peak of the rainy season, especially in the hamlets where water sources are stagnant because people have the habit of storing water for living so it is difficult to control mosquito larva.

Therefore, Kieng Phuoc commune is focusing on leading and directing the prevention and control of dengue fever, assigning each member of the communal committee in charge of each hamlet, intensifying propaganda and guiding people to prevent measures for anti dengue.

Vice Chairman of the PPC Tran Van Dung noted: The dengue prevention and control must be more active to ensure the health of the people as first. The departments, branches and unions need to have a plan to work together on prevention and treatment activities.

For health stations, they need to proactively propagate and examine as soon as they show signs of illness. If they exceed the capacity, immediately transfer patients to higher levels.

For district health centers, it is necessary to closely monitor medical stations, ensuring resources and medicine quantities. As for prevention and control, sectors need to coordinate closely with mass organizations to propagate more strongly; propagandize deeply into each household a way to raise people's awareness and the danger of dengue fever.

At the same time, people need to pay attention to the prevention and control of dengue by voluntarily killing mosquitoes, eliminating mosquito larvae, preserving environmental sanitation, cooperating well with local organizations and mass organizations to join hands for dengue fever prevention and control.

The delegation also examined the prevention and control of epidemics at the Kieng Phuoc commune Health Station, Kieng Phuoc 1 Primary school and 1 household in Cho hamlet.

Up to August 28, Tien Giang province recorded 2,665 cases of dengue fever, an increase of 182% over the same period last year with 2 dead cases in Cho Gao district and My Tho city.
