President of Senate of Haiti starts official visit to Vietnam

President of the Senate of the Republic of Haiti, Youri Latortue and his wife began their official visit to Vietnam on June 17, at the invitation of Vietnam’s National Assembly Chairwoman, Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.

The Haitian Senate President is accompanied by Senator Dieuonne Luma Etienne, First Secretary of the Senate; Senator Jacques Sauverur Jean, Chairman of Culture and Tourism Committee; Caleb J, Desra meaux, member of Chamber of Deputies and Chairman of the Culture and Information Committee; and Senator Nawoon Marcellus, Deputy Chairman of the Senate Committee on Communications.

Haitian Senate President, Youri Latortue, was born on November 13, 1967 in Gonaives city. From 1987 to 1990, he was trained at the prestigious Saint Louis de Gonzague Military Academy, before working at the academy as an instructor.

From 1994, he worked in the Haitian National Police and served as Commander and Head of Presidential Security Unit. He holds a master degree from Montreal University, Canada, graduating in 2004.

He was elected as the President of the Senate on January 13, 2017.
