Defence Minister receives Lao, Cambodian war veterans

Minister of National Defence General Ngo Xuan Lich hosted separate receptions for war veteran delegations from Laos and Cambodia, who are in Hanoi to attend the 6th National Congress of the Vietnam War Veterans’ Association (VWVA).

Vice President and Secretary-General of Cambodia Veterans' Association (CVA) General Kun Kim expressed his gratitude for the support that the Vietnamese Defence Ministry has provided for his association over the past, while hoping that the Ministry would continue doing so, in addition to facilitating the cooperation between the Veterans' Associations of the two nations in the future.

For his part, Minister Ngo Xuan Lich affirmed that the Vietnam People’s Army will always stand side by side with its Cambodian counterpart and the CVA in the cause of national building and protection.

During his reception for the Lao National War Veterans' Association, Minister Lich highlighted the activities that have been jointly implemented by the two nations’ armies and veterans’ associations to raise awareness among all people, particularly the younger generations, of the Vietnam - Laos comprehensive cooperative ties in the Vietnam-Laos Solidarity and Friendship Year 2017.

Lich pledged that his ministry will continue facilitating the cooperation between the two associations in the time ahead.
He called on the Lao association to continue providing support in searching for, collecting, and repatriating the remains of voluntary Vietnamese soldiers and experts who died during the war in Laos.

Sharing the view with Lich, President of the Lao National War Veterans' Association, Major General Somphon Keomixay pledged that the association will continue providing support for Vietnam in the search for and repatriation of the remains of Vietnamese soldiers and experts in Laos.

He expressed his wish that the relations between the two nations’ Parties, States, Armies, people, and war veterans would grow further in the future.
