First Government-funded fishing boat launched in Da Nang

Fisherman, Le Van Nhan, in Nai Hien Dong ward, Son Tra district in the central city of Da Nang launched his newly built fishing boat on September 23, the first fishing boat to be built in Da Nang funded by preferential loans in accordance with Government Decree No.67 on fisheries development policies.

The boat measures 23m in length, 3.3m in height and 6.3m in width, and has a capacity of 829 CV.

The ship was built at a cost of VND10 billion (nearly US$445,000), of which over VND6.9 billion came from preferential banking loans according to Decree No.67, the remaining amount will come out of Nha’s capital.
 
The vessel is scheduled to set out on its maiden voyage in October 2015.
 
Government Decree 67/2014/ND-CP, which took effect on August 25 last year, provides basic policies to encourage fishermen to build high-capacity reinforced steel ships capable of fishing offshore, a practice that could earn fishermen higher incomes and at the same time contribute to protecting the country’s territorial waters.
 
As many as 2,079 new off-shore fishing ships and 205 logistics ships will be built under the decree, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
