Socio-economic development cooperation between Ho Chi Minh city and Tien Giang:

Attracting 47 projects with total investment capital of 13,379 billion VND

On the morning of April 4, Ho Chi Minh city held a conference to summarize a socio- economic cooperation program of 2009- 2016 and announced the direction of a cooperation agreement between Ho Chi Minh city and Tien Giang province in the period of 2017- 2020.

This event saw former Secretary of Ho Chi Minh city Party Committee Le Thanh Hai, Deputy Standing Secretary of Ho Chi Minh city Party Committee Tat Thanh Cang, Chairman of Ho Chi Minh People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong with leaders of departments and enterprises of Ho Chi Minh City.

Deputy Secretary of Tien Giang provincial Party Committee Vo Van Binh and Chairman of Tien Giang provincial People’s Committee Le Van Huong with leaders of departments, districts, towns, cities and enterprises of the province attended this event.

The conference approved the report of the socio- economic cooperation program of 2009- 2016 between Ho Chi Minh city and Tien Giang province. Accordingly, over the past 8 years of implementation, the cooperation program between the two localities has achieved remarkable results on the economic, cultural and communal aspects. There are many remarkable points such as: investment attraction, agriculture, industry, connectivity, trade and tourism, scientific and technological research, health and social security.

So far, the program of economic and social cooperation with Ho Chi Minh City and Tien Giang province has more channels to mobilize investment capital from enterprises in Ho Chi Minh City to develop in the province. During the period 2009 - 2016, there were 47 investment projects of Ho Chi Minh city registered and granted investment certificate in Tien Giang province with total capital of 12,000 billion VND.

In 2017-2020 period, the People's Committees of two localities agreed to co-sign  comprehensive cooperation agreements on many fields such as attracting investment, agriculture and rural development, industry, trade and tourism, information, communication, transportation, construction, science and technology, health, education and training, labor, employment and vocational training, natural resources and environment, and external relations.
