Tien Giang strives to have 16 communes recognized as new rural commune in 2017

On April 10, the Steering Committee for the implementation of national target programs of Tien Giang province held a conference to review the national target program on building new rural commune in the first quarter of 2017.

Until now, the province has 24 communes reached 19/19 criteria. The average number of criteria achieved is 11.28 criteria per commune. Specifically, there are 24 communes reached 19/19 criteria, 2 communes reached from 15 to 18 criteria, 67 communes reached 10 to 14 criteria and 51 communes reached 5 to 9 criteria. In 2017, Tien Giang strives to have 16 communes to meet new rural standard.

At the conference, leaders of localities and provincial departments discussed the difficulties in implementing the criteria in 16 communes building new rural in 2017. These were criteria of political system, environment, school and the the proportion of people participated in health insurance. Particularly, there was not any commune in those communes reachead riteria on electricity and cultural facilities, etc...

Chairman of Tien Giang provincial People's Committee emphazied that: Many concerned branches should inspect and check the construction progress and the implementation of the criteria in localities, to organize immediately training courses for officials to propagate, to mobilize and implement the construction of new rural commune. The sector needed to prioritize investment to create the best conditions for localities to implement this criterion soon. The work of cadres, organization new cooperative seminar, etc... should also be paid attention so that the communes could be recognised as new rural communes according to the set plan.
