The three-day event has drawn 97 exhibitors from 13 countries, including 59 domestic and 38 international businesses.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Van Cong said Vietnam has many advantages to develop the sea-based economy thanks to a long coastline and its location on the world’s important maritime axis.

In particular, Vietnam considers shipbuilding an important part of the maritime economy and has created optimal conditions for local and foreign investors in this field, he added.

Acting General Director of the Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (SBIC) Cao Thanh Dong said the exhibition, the country’s biggest event of its kind, has bolstered cooperation, investment and technology exchanges since it was first held in 2002.

The exhibition this year introduces products in the fields of shipbuilding, ship repair and maintenance technology, materials and equipment for shipbuilding, equipment and facility for shipyard, offshore engineering and facilities, waterway transportation and services, marine supply logistics, ports technology and equipment, design, insurance and more.

The conference “Shipping and Shipbuilding Market in Vietnam – Challenges and Opportunities” and a contract signing ceremony will take place within the event’s framework.
