Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Quoc Doanh said that fruit production is still the strength of Tien Giang province.

Therefore, in the short term, the province needed to manage about 74,000 thousand hectares of existing fruit trees in terms of techniques, care processes, improve productivity and quality; at the same time, continuing to change crops for areas at risk of climate change by determining the size and types of natural conditions and market demand.

Besides, the province needed synchronous application of techniques, increasing production area according to VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards.

In addition, the province needed to develop cooperatives, which are essential to connect with enterprises, creating outputs for products; at the same time, boosting the attraction of enterprises to invest in processing agricultural products after harvest, etc...

According to the Tien Giang province Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, implementing the Resolution 120/NQ-CP, the Tien Giang provincial People's Committee issued the Plan No. 96/KH-UBND to implement the Resolution.

Accordingly, over the past time, the province implemented the restructuring of crops on rice land with an area of more than 12,900 hectares.

In particular, changing to fruit tree as 9,850 hectares, changing to cultivation of specialized crops and aquaculture as more than 3,000 hectares. In addition, the province also rotated crop flowers on an average of 10,000 hectares of rice land per year. In the Eastern districts, implementing the project "Crop cutting, crop changing and crop structure in the eastern districts of Tien Giang province to 2025", until now, the province has carried out crop cutting, crop changing and plant structure conversion of 20,104 hectares.
